Course Overview

As a progression from Dressmaking for Beginners, this course gives learners the skills to develop and progress their existing dressmaking knowledge and skills. In this course you will learn: How to create collars, sleeves, plackets, pipping, different zips and darts. You have the choice to bring a pattern for a shirt, dress, jacket or costume

You will need

A sewing kit e.g. scissors, needles and pins, tape measure etc

Sewing pattern to make your chosen garment

Fabric to make your chosen garment

Matching threads to your chosen fabric

Interfacing, zips, button required for your chosen pattern

Sewing Machine (Optional) We do have sewing machines learners can use at college

You will get to know other people with the same interest of sewing as yourself and be able to share your interests and ideas. Your tutor will give you guidance to develop your confidence, knowledge and skills through individual assistance throughout your chosen project.

During the 10 week course you will create a garment you will be proud of. If you complete your project within the 10 weeks you could make start to create another garment of your choice.
