Volunteering can boost your wellbeing, grow your independence, and help you discover what you’re capable of. Join our hands‑on SAL Community Champions course that will help you build the skills and confidence you need to get involved in your community.
This course is for you if you are a Supported Adult Learner (SAL) aged 19 or over, who has learning disabilities, does not have an EHCP, and would like to grow your confidence while exploring whether volunteering could be right for you.
In this supportive, friendly space, you can grow, learn, and discover how you can make a difference.
You will look at things such as:
• Discussing different volunteering roles
• Practising essential skills such as form filling
• Participating in volunteering tasters with local organisations
• Build your confidence by working with others and sharing ideas
No experience is needed — just enthusiasm, a willingness to join in, and comfortable clothes and shoes for practical activities.
To enrol
This course is funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. Eligibility criteria apply. Learners will need to provide:
• ID
• proof of address
• proof of income upon enrolment.
A course fee is applicable if your income exceeds the threshold set by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority or if you live outside Cambridgeshire.
