If you're interested in animals, there are lots of exciting career options like pet retail, pet grooming, veterinary assistant, working at kennels and catteries, and even jobs with the RSPCA or animal shelters. At City College Peterborough, you can explore animal care through Level 1 and Level 2 courses that teach you both practical skills and animal science.
During the course, you'll learn how to handle animals safely, feed them, and provide general care. You’ll also study animal welfare and ethics, learning about the best ways to look after animals and protect their well-being. As part of the course, you’ll take trips to see British wildlife and explore different habitats.
You'll get hands-on experience working with various animals, including rodents, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates, in the college's animal unit. This course is a great way to start building skills for a future in animal care!
Work experience is a key part of the course, giving you the chance to apply what you’ve learned in real-life settings. This hands-on experience in the field will enhance your skills and prepare you for the challenges of career in working with animals in the land based sector.
