The aim of this course is to develop knowledge and understanding of key areas when working in the adult social care sector.
You will cover:
• The importance of communication in adult social care, ways to overcome barriers, and issues around confidentiality, including recording, storing, and sharing information appropriately.
• Standards and regulations that influence the role of the adult social care worker.
• The importance of anti-discriminatory practices in social care and relevant legislation.
• Different types of abuse and action to take if abuse is suspected or alleged.
• What is meant by ‘duty of care’, and how to address dilemmas that might arise.
• The importance of partnership working and some of the different working relationships in adult social care.
• What is meant by ‘person-centred care’.
• Health and safety in adult social care, including legislation.
You must have a good understanding of the English language, to at least a Level 1 standard.
You must also be aged 19 or over on the 31st August at the start of the academic year to be eligible.
This is a knowledge based qualification so it is not a requirement to be working within the Health and Care sector already
