Course Overview

This qualification is designed for anyone looking to develop their understanding of mental health and the problems that can cause mental ill health. It raises the awareness of mental health and a range of mental health problems, giving you an understanding of a range of mental health problems, which could be used to support your role in the workplace or where you work or interact with individuals with mental health problems such as in community groups.

You will cover

Understanding mental health.

Understanding stress and anxiety.

Understanding depression.

Understanding phobias.

Understanding eating disorders.

Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – ADHD.

Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – OCD.

Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder – PTSD.

Understanding dementia.

Understanding postnatal depression.

Understanding bipolar.

Understanding schizophrenia.

This course is typically 8 weeks long and can start at any point during the academic year.

You will need

Minimum Age 19 as of 31st August of the academic year .

Ideally you will hold Level 1 Functional Skills in English (or GCSE grade D/3 equivalent) or be working towards this.
