Course Overview

This course is for people who are interested in working within a childcare setting which could be a nursery, school or childminding. This course is a blended learning course which involves self-study with the support of a tutor. There are 6 units within the certificate and you will be required to complete assignments for each unit.

You will cover

Young children’s development.

Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.

Introductory awareness of sensory loss.

Craft activities for young children.

Importance of play for early learning.

Respecting and valuing children.

This course is typically 8 weeks long and can start at any point during the academic year.

You will need

Minimum Age 19 as of 31st August of the academic year .

Ideally you will hold Level 1 Functional Skills in English (or GCSE grade D/3 equivalent) or be working towards this.

What next?

This qualification does not qualify you to practice, but gives you a good foundation of knowledge to progress further onto higher qualifications such as a classroom-based Level 2, or a work-based Level 2 and 3 Diploma’s in Early Years.
