The benefits of reading are plenty. A good book can help you improve your literacy, mental health, and wellbeing, broaden your knowledge and introduce you to different perspectives (BBC Teach, n.d.). All good reasons to join our Book Review and Discussion Group! This month we are reading ‘The Forty Rules of Love’ by Elif Shafak.
Ella Rubenstein appears to have everything to have a fulfilling life: a loving husband, wonderful kids and a cosy home. However, lately she can’t help but feel that something is missing. When Ella comes across a manuscript which tells the story of a thirteenth century Sufi poet Rumi and Shams of Tabriz, and his forty rules of life and love, her world is turned upside down.
You can sign up until Thursday 27 March and collect your FREE copy of this months’ book from our reception at Brook Street from 5 March.
A commitment to join the online discussion group, refreshments/snacks, a laptop/ tablet/mobile phone and an internet connection.
This course is funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. Eligibility criteria apply and learners will be expected to evidence this by showing ID, proof of address and proof of income when you collect your book. We will not retain copies of these documents.
When you finish this course, the invigorating discussions may have inspired you to undertake a Functional Skills English or even GCSE English qualification.
