This is a music appreciation course. You will explore the world of classical music through recorded and filmed examples, covering the great composers and their historical background, the instruments of the orchestra, the chief musical forms, and much more. In this course we will focus on the Baroque and Classical periods (1680-1820) What will we cover? Musical forms including: • Symphony • Sonata • Opera • Concerto • Quartet • Instruments of the orchestra • Context of composers’ lives
