This is a music appreciation course, concentrating on the Romantic and Modern periods in music (1820-present). We will look at new developments in harmony, orchestral colour and individual expression, and the new challenges to traditional music through atonal procedures in the twentieth century.What will we cover?Techniques including: • Sonata form • Development • Music-drama • Musical nationalism
