Are you wanting to learn the art of working with medium Copper Clay? The clay is soft and mouldable and can be used to make charms and jewellery items. Once the clay has dried and been fired, the tiny particles of copper sinter together and become 99.5% pure copper metal.
The copper items you create can then be added to necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.
You will be taught: working with clay, rolling to desired thickness, using cutters and moulds to create shapes, creating your own moulds from natural objects such as shells and seed pods, building up layers of shapes to create 3D pieces, adding texture, creating 3D charms and adding embellishments such as Cubic Zirconia gems to your designs. Tidying up air dried pieces. The firing process. Adding small loops to allow the copper charms to be hung on chains, bracelets, keyrings etc. Making a link bracelet from copper wire using some traditional silver smithing techniques. Hanging some of your charms onto the bracelet. Cleaning and Polishing. Finally applying a protective wax to prevent the finished copper piece from tarnishing.
Courses are suitable for complete beginners and those with experience.
All skills taught can be directly transferred to working with silver clay too.
Come along and have some creative fun whilst meeting new people and learning new skills.
You will take home all of the charms and pieces you have created with the clay, along with any of the rubber moulds you create.
You could bring an apron along if you'd like too.
