The aim of this course is to further develop knowledge and understanding of key areas when working in the adult social care sector.
You will cover:
• The importance of communication in adult social care, ways to overcome barriers, and issues around confidentiality, including recording, storing, and sharing information appropriately.
• Standards and regulations that influence the role of the adult social care worker.
• The importance of anti-discriminatory practices in social care and relevant legislation.
• Different types of abuse and action to take if abuse is suspected or alleged.
• Principles for implementing ‘duty of care’, and how to address dilemmas that might arise in various settings.
• The importance of partnership working and some of the different working relationships in adult social care.
• Understand ‘person-centred’ approaches in Adult Social Care settings.
• Understanding of health and safety in adult social care, including legislation.
A good level of English will also be requried in order to effectively complete workbooks
You must also be aged 19 or over on the 31st August at the start of the academic year to be eligible.
This is a knowledge based qualification so it is not a requirement to be working within the Health and Care sector already
