Course Overview

Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

During this course you will learn about what to expect when working in the sector and you will gain some basic knowledge.

This course is for anyone who is interested in working in adult social care.

You will cover:

• What adult social care is, different types, jobs settings and how to progress.

• Gain understanding of the values and principles in adult social care.

• Gain understanding about the skills and attitudes needed by staff working in adult social care and reflect on your own skills and attitudes.

• Gain some understanding around communication, barriers and how to overcome them. Record keeping and different types of records.

• Gain an awareness of the role and responsibilities of an adult social care worker.

• Partnership working and person - centred care.

You will need

A good level of English will also be requried in order to effectively complete workbooks

You must also be aged 19 or over on the 31st August at the start of the academic year to be eligible.

This is a knowledge based qualification so it is not a requirement to be working within the Health and Care sector already.

In order to be eligible for funding, you must not be on a skilled worker, student or graduate visa.
