Course Overview

This qualification is portfolio based, it encourages an understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children. It is suitable for you if you are considering a career in caring for children.

You will cover

Sharing learning experiences with children

Growth and development of young children

Children’s play and leisure activities in the community

Science activities for children

Technology activities for young children

Musical activities for young children

Practical health and safety when with young children

Craft activities with young children

Safeguarding the welfare of young children

Healthy living and healthy eating for families

Confidence building for the young child through play

Listening to and talking with a young child

You will need

Minimum Age 19 as of 31st August of the academic year .

Ideally you will hold Entry Level 3 Functional Skills in English (or GCSE grade E/2 equivalent) or be working towards this

What next?

This qualification does not qualify you to practice, but gives you a good foundation of knowledge to progress further onto higher qualifications such as a classroom-based Level 2, or a work-based Level 2 and 3 Diploma’s in Early Years.
