Course Overview

This course is for people who are interested in working within a childcare setting which could be a nursery, school or childminding. This course is a classroom-based course. There are 13 units within the diploma and you will be required to complete assignments for each unit.

You will cover

Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people

Introductory awareness of sensory loss

Importance of play for early learning

Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet

The value of play for young children

Young children’s development

Craft activities with young children

Reflecting and valuing children

Children’s play and leisure activities in the community

Sharing learning experiences with children

Supporting children’s development

Investigating a vocational area

Understand how to plan to meet the needs of the developing child

You will need

Minimum Age 19 as of 31st August of the academic year

Ideally you will hold Level 1 Functional Skills in English (or GCSE grade D/3 equivalent) or be working towards this.

What next?

This qualification does not qualify you to practice, but gives you a good foundation of knowledge to progress further onto higher qualifications such as work-based Level 2 and 3 Diploma’s in Early Years
