Course Overview

Are you a supported Adult learner (SAL) aged 19 or over who has learning disabilities, does not have an EHCP, and you find managing stress and relaxing challenging? If you answered yes, our SAL Crafts through the Seasons course is just what you need!

Arts and crafts can help reduce stress and enhance relaxation (Huotilainen et al. 2018). In this course, you will explore arts and crafts inspired by the four seasons. Throughout the year, many cultural celebrations take place, each with unique artistic traditions and symbolic materials. From pumpkins and pinecones to vibrant flowers, we’ll discover how a variety of materials are used to represent and celebrate different events.

You will for example:

• Look at arts and crafts for Halloween, the Harvest Festival, and Diwali in Autumn

• Explore fun and festive crafts for Christmas, the Straw Bear Festival, and Valentine’s Day in Winter

• Learn about bright and colourful crafts for Mardi Gras, Easter, and May Day in Spring

• Discover exciting and creative crafts for the Summer Solstice, Independence Day, and the Notting Hill Carnival in Summer
