Course Overview

“Gloriana”. “The Virgin Queen”. “Good Queen Bess”. Elizabeth I was Queen of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death in 1603 and was to be the last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. Her reign covered a period of tumultuous political, economic, cultural, religious and social change and saw England’s emergence as a world power. After the short, disastrous reigns of her half-siblings, her 44 years on the throne provided welcome stability for the kingdom and helped to forge a sense of national identity. What was her story?
